PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a zoom lens not depending on a focal distance in terms of the resolution of the deflection angle of a prism, and to provide an imaging apparatus using the zoom lens. SOLUTION: The zoom lens 20 includes a variable power part having a plurality of movable lens groups and a prism 1 arranged on the image side of the variable power part. The prism includes an incident plane 2a that receives the luminous flux from the variable power part and an emitting plane 3a that emits the luminous flux toward an image surface, and the emitting plane can be tilted related to the optical axis, and provided that an angle formed by the normal line of the emitting plane and the optical axis is expressed byα, the focal distance of the whole lens system is expressed by f, the tilt angle of the lens system is expressed byθ, a distance from the emitting plane to the image surface is expressed by Bf and the refractive index of the prism is expressed by n, the emitting plane is tilted based on conditional expression (1)α=-f×θ/[Bf(n-1)].
