PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and a device for carrying out inspection using an eddy current coil. SOLUTION: This method inspects an embossment of a wheel in a gas turbine, using an inspection assembly 10, in one embodiment. The inspection assembly includes a scanning tool and the eddy current coil. The tool includes a stability support member 22 and a support bearing 56. The method positions the assembly to locate the eddy current coil in an upper side of an inspected surface and to bring the support bearing into contact with the surface, and maintains the stability support member to abut on the support surface.
