PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method capable of reducing a fluorescent background without carrying out a washing operation using a surfactant, and capable of detecting accurately an analyte. SOLUTION: This method of detecting the analyte includes: a process for preparing a solid phase carrier immobilized with a complex of a signal generation substance and the analyte in a sample; a process for immobilizing further a blocking agent onto the solid phase carrier; and a process for detecting the analyte by detecting a signal emitted from the signal generation substance in the complex immobilized on the solid phase carrier.
