PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for diagnosing the degree of deterioration of a macromolecular material due to a change in the material quality of the macromolecular material in the case of long-time use in a non-destructive manner using an ultrasonic wave. SOLUTION: An ultrasonic transmitter and an ultrasonic receiver are arranged on the surface of a material to be diagnosed at a proper interval and a ultrasonic wave is propagated to the vicinity of the surface of the material to be diagnosed. The intensity of an acoustic spectrum is calculated from the acoustic waveform obtained at this time and the degree of deterioration of the material to be diagnosed is diagnosed from the correlation with change in the material quality of the material to be diagnosed due to deterioration.
