PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a partial coating apparatus for a plate material, which is capable of carrying out partial coating with high productivity without the futile use of a coating material and the breaking of the plate material by shock. SOLUTION: In the partial coating apparatus for the plate material, the partial coating is carrying out by transporting the plate material 3 in a horizontal attitude to pass through below a flow coater 2 from which a coating material 1 flows down curtain-like to be supplied and applying and depositing the coating material 1 flowing down from the flow coater 2 on a part of the surface of the plate material 3. The partial coating apparatus is provided with a shutter 4 moving back and forth between the side position and the lower position of the flow coater 2 and shifted between the flow coater 2 and the plate material 3 to receive the coating material flowing down from the flow coater 2 when the part where is needless to be coated on the plate material 3 transported below the flow coater 2 in one direction is passed through a position where the coating material 1 flows down.
