PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid coating device capable of surely preventing liquid leakage due to the inclination or the like of a device posture in a conventional technique. SOLUTION: The liquid coating device is disposed with a counter roller at a position facing to a coating roller for coating paper with liquid, and is provided with a means for coating the paper with the liquid while holding the paper with the coating and counter rollers to convey the paper with the rotation by their cooperation. The device forms a groove for storing excess liquid by forming a groove or flange part in the vicinity of both ends of the counter roller for the purpose of preventing the excess liquid not to be transferred and to be remained on the outside a paper width region from flowing around the bearing at the both ends of the counter roller. The device is also disposed with an absorbing member such as a sponge in the vicinity of the groove to absorb the liquid stored before the groove or flange with the absorbing member, so as to prevent the liquid from flowing around the bearing part and fixing the bearing with the shaft, and to improve the reliability.
