PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a golf ball manufacturing method, restraining air bleeding failure in compression molding method. SOLUTION: A spherical body 41 includes: a center, an intermediate layer and a reinforcement layer. The spherical body 41 is covered with two bowl-like half shells 46 made of thermoplastic resin composition. The spherical body 41 covered with the half shells 46 are put in a second forming mold 32 including an upper mold 34 and a lower mold 36 having semi-spherical cavity surfaces 38 in the open state of the second forming mold 32. The second forming mold 32 is fastened to pressurize and heat the thermoplastic resin composition of the half shells 46 in the spherical cavity, and surplus thermoplastic resin composition flows out of the spherical cavity. The thermoplastic resin composition is solidified to form a layer having a thickness ranging from 0.1 mm to 1.00 mm. A projecting part 45 is provided on the outer surface of the half shell 46.
