<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a backlight unit which has a high brightness and uniform lightness. <P>SOLUTION: In the backlight having a light guide plate and a light source, the light source 13 is fitted in a corner notched part of the light guide plate 12, a serrated circular prism 12a concentric with the light source as a center is formed on the light guide plate 12. Pitch widths p of the circular prism 12a are kept uniform and inclination angles θ(θ1 to θn) are set bigger as they get away from the light source 13, and depths h (h1 to hn) of the prism are set deeper as they get away from the light source. Furthermore, the inclination angle θ shall be 45° or smaller and an angle β of a valley 12j of the prism 12a shall be 90° or larger. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
