PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To automatically discriminate scenes to be photographed in a digital camera. SOLUTION: A photographing device detects temperatures of fields by using a temperature sensor 8, and classifies them into "high", "human body temperature", and "low" by using a temperature system information feature extraction circuit 24. A scene discriminator circuit 26 discriminates the scene in combinations of the temperature features, and of the movements, hues, color saturations of the image detected by image feature extraction circuit 18. When the lower part of the image has a low temperature and a small color saturation for example, it discriminates it as being a snow scene.
