PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image photographing device which can determine a zoom range quickly and appropriately for an image acquired through an optical system having distortion aberration characteristics. SOLUTION: An image sensor 101 converts an optical image received through a lens 100 having distortion aberration characteristics into an electric signal being outputted as image data of first angle of field. A feature amount extracting section 102 extracts the feature amount of data corresponding to a second angle of field narrower than the first angle of field including the optical axis of an optical system out of that image data and outputs feature amount data. An object judging section 103 judges whether an object exists in the second angle of field or not based on the feature amount data. When a signal inputted from the object judging section 103 indicates existence of an object, an angle of field altering section 104 outputs image data corresponding to the second angle of field, and outputs image data corresponding to the first angle of field when a signal inputted from the object judging section 103 indicates nonexistence of an object.
