PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform category communication with satisfactory reception characteristics, without increasing the memory area of a virtual IR buffer used for restoration processing of reception data, regarding a transmission method and a receiving apparatus in a high-speed downlink packet access (HSDPA) system. SOLUTION: An IR buffer 5-2 of a reception apparatus determines whether reception data inputted from a second rate dematching section 5-3 are to be combined with retransmission data; and if the reception data are to be combined, these data are sent to a buffer memory 5-21 by a switch section 5-22; but if the reception data are not to be combined, these data are directly sent to a first rate dematching section 5-1 of the next stage. A buffer memory/combining processing control section 5-23 controls the switching section and the buffer memory and performs control so as not to combine the reception data of a process number protruded out of the IR buffer, to fixedly key the process number protruded out of the IR buffer and to combine only the reception data in which CRC errors are detected.
