PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform running tests on vehicles to be tested under conditions close to an actual road surface by reducing the inertia of a roller of a chassis dynamometer. SOLUTION: For reinforcing an outer cylinder part 8 constituting the roller R<SB>1</SB>, ring-like first ribs 12a and 12b are each fixed to an approximately center part in width direction and one end part of an inner circumferential surface of the outer cylinder part 8. The wall thickness of the outer cylinder part 8 is thinned while maintaining its strength. For reinforcing a torque transmission plate 9 mounted to the other end part of the outer cylinder part 8, a plurality of second ribs 13 across a side surface part of the torque transmission plate 9 and the outer circumferential surface of a mounting boss part 11 are fixed. The wall thickness of the torque transmission plate 9 is thinned while maintaining its strength. By constituting each above-mentioned member of an aluminum material, the weight of the roller R<SB>1</SB>is reduced to reduce its rotational inertia. COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
