PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a down pipe for a base isolation building without making refuse enter the inside, without shortening a maintenance cycle with durability, and dispensing with reinstallation after an earthquake. SOLUTION: This down pipe has an upper gutter material 2 on the upper structure part 5 side of the base isolation building, a lower gutter material 3 on the lower structure part 6 side and an intermediate gutter material 4 for communicating and connecting the upper-lower gutter materials 2 and 3. An upper end part of the intermediate gutter material 4 and a lower end part of the upper gutter material 2 and a lower end part of the intermediate gutter material 4 and an upper end part of the lower gutter material 3, are connected by universal joint mechanisms 7 and 7 formed by exactly fitting mutual spherical joint parts 8 and 9 of swelling and molding these end part peripheral walls in a spherical shape of exceeding a semi-sphere, and the lower gutter material 3 and the intermediate gutter material 4 can be expanded by telescopic mechanisms 11 and 11.
