PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inkjet recorder which can remove fixed ink by isolating a cap member while the ink is fully adhered onto an ink ejection face by suction, and then carrying out wiping in a state with the ink ejection face moistened with the ink. SOLUTION: The inkjet recorder has a first cleaning mode and a second cleaning mode. In the first cleaning mode, the cap member is isolated while the ink is fully adhered on the ink ejection face by suction, and thereafter wiping is carried out in a state with the ink ejection face being moistened with the ink. In the second cleaning mode, the remaining ink in the cap member, namely, ink adhered on the ink ejection face is sucked while the cap member is communicated with the atmosphere after suction.
