PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a good printed result irrespective of quality of ink to be used. SOLUTION: This inkjet printer comprises nonvolatile memories M1, M2 for storing quality information relating to whether or not an ink cartridge 20 is genuine, a history information memory means 94 for storing the quality information read from the nonvolatile memories, function restoration processing means 85, 87 that carries out function restoration processing for discharging a prescribed amount of ink in the ink cartridge through an inkjet head 30, a quality judgment means 95 for checking whether or not each of the ink cartridge previously loaded and an ink cartridge loaded at this time is genuine based on the history information and the quality information read at this time, and a maintenance control means 84 for controlling a discharge amount of the ink such that the discharge amount of the ink in the function restoration processing is made to be greater than a prescribed amount when it is judged that at least one of the cartridges is not genuine.
