PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an additive for a synthetic resin, which is inexpensive and excellent in dispersive property and which is particularly useful as an anti-blocking agent or a light-diffusing agent and gives a synthetic resin composition having excellent anti-blocking property and light diffusing property. SOLUTION: The additive for synthetic resins comprises inactive fine particle consisting of heavy calcium carbonate and satisfies the following expressions (a), (b) and (c): (a) 1≤d50≤20 where d50 is a integrated 50 vol% diameter (μm) of additive particles to synthetic resins, determined by Microtrac-FRA; (b) 0≤α≤2.5 whereα=(d90-d10)/d50; d90 is an integrated 90 vol% diameter (μm) of additive particles to synthetic resins, determined by Microtrac-FRA; and d10 is 10 vol% diameter (μm) determined by the same; and (c) V<SB>05</SB>≤10 where V<SB>05</SB>is a volume ratio (vol%) of super fine particles of at most 0.5μm contained in the additive for synthetic resins, determined by Microtrac-FRA.
