PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polyvinylidene chloride resin composition excellent in a recrystallization rate and suitable for the production of a packaging film which requires transparency, mechanical characteristics, seal strength, gas barrier properties. SOLUTION: The polyvinylidene chloride resin composition is obtained by swelling with an epoxy additive such as epoxidized octyl stearate an organically modified layered silicate obtained by treating a layered silicate such as synthetic fluoromica with an organic onium salt and melt-kneading the swollen organically modified layered silicate with a polyvinylidene chloride resin.
