PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a treating material for colored waste water which is effective for various kinds of colored waste water, can efficiently fix and remove color material and exhibits excellent effect enabling the reduction of BOD and COD. SOLUTION: The treating material for colored waste water contains calcium hydroxide and a calcium aluminate-based compound, has fineness of≥3,000cm<SP>2</SP>/g when represented by Blaine specific surface area and a molar ratio of CaO/Al<SB>2</SB>O<SB>3</SB>in the calcium aluminate-based compound is 0.5 to 3.
