INSTITUT KHIMICHESKOI FIZIKI, SPETSIALNOE KONSTRUKTORSKOE BYURO PO OBORUDOVANIIU DLYA PROMYSHLENNOSTI STROITELNYKH MATERIALOV and LENINGRADSKY ZAVODSLOISTYKH PLASTIKOV. 5 May, 1966, No. 19937/66. Heading D1R. Nonwoven material is made in an apparatus comprising a furnace 1 manufacturing filamentary material e.g. glass strands, a means 3 to apply bonding agent to the material and form them into a yarn 2, a winding head 13, comprising an arrangement for imparting vertical oscillations thereto, for applying the yarn as a sloping cross-winding 5 onto a delivery means. This delivery means comprises a series of conveyors 6 disposed around a vertical shaft 8 which feed the cross-wound yarn downwardly past a heating and drying chamber 30. A cutter slits the material into a continuous web. The cutter can slit the material along a spiral into a continuous band, as shown, or the cutter can slit vertically, see member 34<SP>1</SP> in Fig. 2 (not shown). Doffing means (31, 32, 33), see Fig. 4 (not shown) separates the material from the conveyors 6. The nonwoven material can be stitched with a synthetic yarn in a direction perpendicular to fibre orientation using bobbins (24), needle clamps (25), loopers (28) with electric motors (27<SP>1</SP>) connected to motors (27) by selsyns see Fig. 3 (not shown). The cross winding can be achieved using a cam 17 rotating on shaft 8 and interacting with tile winding head 13, e.g. via roller 19, to give a preset angle of the glass yarn in the material. Cam 17 can be driven from shaft 8 via a speed reducer (9), see Fig. 3 (not shown). Drying in chamber 30 can be by hot air or by electrical heating conveyors 6, may be made of covered chains, and rotated synchronously with the winding head and stitching means when the material is slit into a band. The conveyers are not rotated if the material is slit into a web.</p> |
