摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress the decomposition of a hydrogen storage material caused by its contact with water and deterioration in its hydrogen storage or discharge properties, and to reduce the discharge starting temperature of hydrogen in the hydrogen storage material. <P>SOLUTION: The hydrogen storage material comprises one or more kinds of first hydrides including an M<SB>1</SB>element(s), boron and hydrogen, and one or more kinds of first chlorides including an M<SB>2</SB>element(s); wherein, the M<SB>1</SB>element(s) and M<SB>2</SB>element(s) are at least one or more kinds of elements selected from Li, Na, K, Ca, Zn, Cu, Mg, Sc, Zr, Mn, Hf, Al, Ti, Cr, V, Ga, Fe, Co, Ni, Y and rare earth elements, respectively.
