<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize a method for forming a glass optical element capable of securing the optical property of an optical element having optical surfaces of high precision and improving the yield by improving its productivity. <P>SOLUTION: The method for forming a glass optical element contains a first process where a difference between a pair of optical surface shapes of a glass optical element formed by using a pair of molds having an optical forming surface processed to have a shape by which an optical surface shape based on the designed value of a glass lens 15 is transferred and an optical surface shape specified based on the designed value is measured, a second process where the optical forming surface of one of the pair of molds 2 is processed based on the measured value so as to make a distance between the optical surfaces in the direction parallel to the optical axis of a pair of optical surfaces 15a, 15b the same distance as a distance specified based on the designed value, and a third process where a glass optical element is formed by the pair of molds, i.e. the processed mold and the other mold 3.
