PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To remove a protrusion and a hole designed only for mounting a puncture adapter on an ultrasound probe. SOLUTION: A flat surface is formed on a specific side surface (a third side surface) of the ultrasound probe, and a protrusion 26 is formed on a flat surface. The protrusion 26 has a streamline shape. The protrusion 26 works as a so-called front mark showing a reference side of an electronic scan. Moreover, the protrusion 26 engages a frame body 46 when the puncture adapter is attached and exhibits a positioning function of the puncture adapter.
