PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and system for reducing transition events such as radiation effects in an electrostatic discharge (ESD) power clamp. SOLUTION: The ESD power clamp includes: trigger circuitry that determines to allow a power clamp to be on time in the ESD events; and drive circuitry that supplies ESD current by driving pull-down devices. Two individual driver circuits are used to protect the system from a single event effect (SEE) by individually controlling the pull-down circuits. The ESD is shunted to the earth by allowing the ESD power clamp to be operated when both drive circuits are simultaneously operated. COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
