PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid droplet ejection apparatus which comprises a cap having a recess for sealing the circumference of a head nozzle as airtight space, and suction means for sucking air in the recess, and efficiently removes a liquid droplet accumulated in the recess. SOLUTION: The liquid droplet ejection apparatus comprises: a nozzle plate 27 having a wide flat surface region (negative pressure charging region 27a) on the right side of a region having nozzles 27m to 27k formed thereon; and a triangular notch 27b formed in a position opposed to the front side end portions of caps 24, 25 in the right end edge of the region 27a. A recess 24a of the cap 24 is sealed with the negative pressure charging region 27a (C), and after sucking the sealed recess and applying a negative pressure thereto (D), when moving a head 17 to make the notch 27b opposed to the recess 24a (E), (F), an atmospheric pressure is applied to the entire ink in the recess 24a through the notch 27b, and thereby an airflow and an ink flow are generated from the notch 27b toward a suction port 24b.
