PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing a toner which is a polymerized toner containing a polyester resin and a colorant, excels in color reproducibility and transparency, and ensures stable charging property over a prolonged period of time without presenting an isolation phenomenon of the colorant, and to provide a toner obtained by the method for manufacturing the toner and an image forming method using the toner. SOLUTION: The method for manufacturing the toner includes: a polymerization step of obtaining colorant-containing polyester resin particles by forming oil droplets comprising polymerizable monomers including at least one di- or higher valent carboxylic acid and at least one di- or higher hydric alcohol and a colorant in an aqueous medium containing a surfactant which comprises a compound having a long chain hydrocarbon group and an acidic group, and polycondensing the carboxylic acid and the alcohol in the oil droplets; and an aggregation step of aggregating at least the colorant-containing polyester resin particles in an aqueous medium.
