PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lock installed on a sliding door or a folding door, the lock being protected from illegal unlocking. SOLUTION: In a case 101 buried into a sliding door 200, are provided a slider guide 111A for linearly guiding a slider 120 in the direction of a hook 140 coming out of or into the case 101, and a hook guide 112 for guiding the hook 140 in the direction of its coming out of or into the case 101 and in the direction of its engaging with and disengaging from the sliding door 200. The lock is structured so that when external forces are directly applied to the hook 140 engaged with a door frame 300 from the outside of the case 101 in the direction of the hook 140 moving along the hook guide 112 to release the lock, these external forces can be prevented from transmitting to the slider 120.
