PROCESS FOR PRODUCTION OF CARBIDE PRODUCT AND PRODUCTION APPARATUS

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an industrial technology for production of carbonized products which is high in the content of citric acid soluble phosphoric acid and is low in the content of a tarry component from raw materials of organic wastes represented by sewage sludge. SOLUTION: The organic wastes such as sewage sludge are carbonized at temperatures of 700°C or lower with a carbonization apparatus 1 such as a rotary kiln and then introduced in a screw delivery system cylindrical heating apparatus 2 with inner pressures of -0.5 kPa to +0.5 kPa connected to the later step of the carbonization apparatus 1. Inside of the cylindrical heating apparatus, inert gases such as water vapor and a combustion exhaust are allowed to flow countercurrently to the carbonized product and heated at 250-700°C to transfer the tarry component to the gas side. The resultant carbonized product contains a high content of about 10% of the citric acid soluble phosphoric acid and free of a tarry component which inhibits growth of plants.
