<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processor capable of extracting a region having a density lower than that of a ground from an original image. <P>SOLUTION: When an original is subjected to electronic documentation by reading it, a ground level of the original is detected (S2404) and a low-density region having a density lower than that of the ground is extracted by using the ground level (S2406). A state that the low-density region exists is informed (S2411).
