<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a coating solution for an inkjet recording medium which is capable of forming a crack-free coating layer, and the inkjet recording medium which has a coating layer formed of the coating solution. <P>SOLUTION: The coating solution is provided for forming the coating layer of the inkjet recording medium wherein the coating layer is formed on a base. The solution contains a silica having a secondary particle diameter of 1 μm or less, a binder component and a univalent aluminate.
