摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of manufacturing a transflective liquid crystal display device which employs an OCB mode liquid crystal with high speed response. <P>SOLUTION: The method of manufacturing the transflective liquid crystal display device employing the OCB mode liquid crystal comprises an alignment layer forming step 21 and an ultraviolet backside irradiation step 22. In the alignment layer forming step 21, a polyimide based alignment layer is printed on an array substrate AR and a counter substrate CF. Subsequently, in the ultraviolet backside irradiation step 22, ultraviolet rays irradiation is applied not onto a film surface of the array substrate AR but from the glass substrate GL side, while ultraviolet rays irradiation is applied onto the counter substrate CF from the counter electrode CE side. In this way, the ultraviolet backside irradiation step 22 in which the ultraviolet rays irradiation is applied from the glass surface GL of the array substrate AR is provided subsequent to the alignment layer forming step 21, thereby hybrid alignment and bend alignment are formed within a pixel without complicating the manufacturing process. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
