PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize a developing device properly preventing leakage of a developer. SOLUTION: The developing device for carrying the developer includes a developer carrying roller and a seal member. The developer carrying roller includes; a groove formation part which has spiral grooves formed on a surface thereof and has a depth of a groove, which is formed in an end part in an axial direction of the developer carrying roller, made shallower than that of a groove formed in a center part of the groove formation part in the axial direction; and non-groove formation part which are placed on the outside of the groove formation part in the axial direction and have no spiral grooves formed thereon. The seal member is brought into contact with the non-groove formation parts along a peripheral surface of the developer carrying roller to prevent leakage of the developer.
