PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a reverse operation assisting device of a vehicle with which an operator can obtain the state of the vehicle incident to reverse operation easily, in addition to the reverse direction of the vehicle. SOLUTION: The reverse operation assisting device of a vehicle 1 comprises an imaging means 2 for picking up the image in the rear of the vehicle, a means 4 for displaying a video image picked up by the imaging means, a means 6 for detecting the steering angle of a steering wheel, a reverse track calculating means 5 for calculating the reverse prediction tracks at the right and left rear end points of the vehicle based on the steering angle thus detected, a means 5 for calculating outline information of the vehicle when it has reversed by a predetermined distance based on the tangential directions of the reverse prediction tracks thus calculated by the reverse track calculating means and the overall length data of the vehicle, and a display control means 3 for displaying on a display means 4 the reverse prediction tracks calculated for the video image picked up by the imaging means 2 and the outline of the vehicle that are superposed.
