PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrolyte for driving an electrolytic capacitor which has low specific resistance and high withstand voltage. SOLUTION: The electrolyte for driving an electrolytic capacitor contains ethylene glycol as a main solvent, and blended with an organic carboxylic acid such as azelaic acid, sebacic acid, benzoic acid, 1,6-decane dicarboxylic acid, 5,6-decane dicarboxylic acid, and 7-vinyl hexadecene-1,16-dicarboxylc acid or its salt; boric acid or its ammonium salt; oxycitronellal shown by a chemical formula of a figure.
