PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detect an absolute angle and absolute position without complicated arithmetic processing, from the moment when a sensor system is powered on. SOLUTION: An angle detector 10 comprises a disc substrate 11 on which angle information is recorded magnetically, and a magnetic sensor 12 for reading magnetic information on the disc substrate 11. The disc substrate 11 is attached to a rotation shaft of a rotation body such as the steering wheel of an automobile, and rotates in interlock with the rotation. A natural magnetic pattern 13 for indicating the absolute angle with a digital value is formed on the disc substrate 11. The magnetic sensor 12 has a plurality of magneto-resistance elements, and they are arranged so as to correspond to a plurality of bits constituting the magnetic pattern 13 one to one. When the disc substrate is rotated, the magnetic sensor moves on the disc substrate circumferentially, so that the magnetic pattern 13 on the disc substrate facing the magnetic sensor 12 is read by each magneto-resistance element 14.
