PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recording device capable of detecting width of recording paper securely and achieving ease of use by a simple configuration. SOLUTION: In this printer having a paper feeding part for loading and feeding a paper and a recording part for recording on the fed paper, the paper feeding part has a side guide movable in accordance with width of the loaded paper, a contact part moving in synchronization with the side guide, and a conductor pattern unit part provided in a part moving relatively for the side guide and the contact part and having a plurality of conductor patterns along the direction of relative moving.
