SOLID-POLYMER FUEL CELL, CATALYST LAYER THEREOF, AND MANUFACTURING METHOD THEREOF

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrode catalyst layer along with its manufacturing method, having a high catalytic activity with a thin catalyst layer.

SOLUTION: An electrode catalyst layer 3 of a solid polymer fuel cell comprises a catalyst 4 of mesh structure. The manufacturing method of the electrode catalyst layer of the solid polymer fuel cell comprising the catalyst of mesh structure includes a process for forming a thin film consisting of a composite oxide of platinum and cerium by a reactive vacuum vapor deposition method, and a process to obtain a catalyst of mesh structure which consists of a mixture of platinum and cerium oxide by subjecting the thin film to a reducing process.
