PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an electronic appliance with which whether one kind of appropriate component is rightly selected from comparatively many components and attached or not is confirmed by using few signal lines and further without preparing a special device. SOLUTION: The liquid crystal display device 200 includes an inverter board 204 with which a control suited for the kind of a backlight 203 is conducted. A scaler board 206 of the liquid crystal display device 200 includes a firmware ROM 242 in which a data 259 for validation suited for the device is stored. Only when a panel discriminating signal 229 output from a panel discriminating circuit 228 of the installed inverter board 204 coincides with the data 259 for validation, a control IC 222 is set so as to drive the backlight 203.
