PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus and the like, which enable a position of an end of a print medium to be accurately determined by using ink itself. SOLUTION: This inkjet printer 20 performs head inspections for checking whether the ink is normally ejected from a nozzle 23, by making a voltage detecting circuit 54 detect a voltage change caused by ejecting a charged ink droplet to an ink receiving area 52. When taking instructions on borderless printing, the inkjet printer 20 makes the ink in a print head 24 charged by a voltage application circuit 53; the ink is ejected to an area with recording paper S and an area with no recording paper S in the receiving area 52; the print head 24 is shifted; and an end of the recording paper S is grasped on the basis of a position in which the voltage is not detected by the circuit 54.
