PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technology of facilitating edit of moving picture data including audio data and video data of three channels or over. SOLUTION: A moving picture recording apparatus disclosed herein extracts third and succeeding channels of audio data included in the moving picture data, and records the audio data as a separate file from that of the moving picture data. Thus, even an edit application compatible only with a combination of up to two channels of audio data with respect to one video data can process audio data of the third and succeeding channels. Then the moving picture recording apparatus can edit the moving picture data with the audio data of the third and succeeding channels under an edit environment used generally in prior arts.
