PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the leakage of operating oil for stabilizing motion by preventing a rotating force or rotating moment from a portion abutting on a chain guide from operating on a sawtooth-shaped screw. SOLUTION: A male screw 21 of a rod member 17 is engaged with a sawtooth-shaped female screw 16 of a nut member 15 in a cylinder chamber 13 of a housing 11. The rod member 17 is divided into a push rod 17a to be protruded by a return spring 18 and an adjusting screw 17b for preventing a rotating force or rotating moment from the chain guide 6 to the push rod 17a from being transmitted to the adjusting screw 17b. A spring seat 29 and a coil spring 30 are incorporated in a spring storage hole 22 of the adjusting screw 17b. Furthermore, a seal ring 26 is incorporated in the housing 11 between a flange 25a of a plug 25 engaged with the closed end wall of the cylinder chamber 13 and the abutting face of the housing 11 for preventing operating oil from leaking to the outside.
