The use of compounds of formula (I) wherein variable groups are defined within; in the manufacture of medicaments for use in the inhibition of 11betaHSD1, process for making them, certain compounds within the definition of the formula (I) and pharmaceutical compositions comprising them are described. The compounds are useful in the treatment of metabolic syndrome, diabetes and obesity.
