824,160. Road sweeping machines. SCHORLING, K. H., [trading as SCHORLING & CO. WAGGONBAU.]. March 12, 1958 [July 26, 1957], No. 7941/58. Class 107 A road sweeping machine has a laterally displaceable rotary cylindrical brush, arranged between the front and rear wheels, which is flanked on each side by gutter brushes arranged in front of the cylindrical brush, the sweepings being conveyed to a rearwardly tiltable container by a suction device, the suction head of which extends across the width of the cylindrical brush and the gutter brushes being rotatable in opposite directions and displaceable as a unit in a transverse direction to enable a gutter on one side or the other of the machine to be swept. As shown, refuse is swept by the counter-rotating gutter brushes 3 and 4 towards the centre of the machine where it strikes the baffle plate 9 and forms as a strip to be picked up by the cylindrical rotary brush 5 Which is covered by a suction hood 6, the refuse is then transferred from the brush 5 to the tiltable container 2 by a suction pipe 7, the suction head 6 of which extends across the width of the brbush 5. The brushes 3, 4 and/or 5 may be displaceable as a unit from one side of the machine to the other and the refuse may be picked up by suction alone by raising the brush 5 to its rest position out of contact with the road surface. |
