[Also in Division G2] Electrophotographic prints, preferably colour prints, are rendered retouchable with aqueous solutions of water-soluble dyes by bonding an essentially colourless, transparent, methanol soluble (as defined) synthetic polyamide layer to its image-bearing surface by laminating thereto with a supported polyamide layer, either the polyamide layer or the print having a surface layer of transparent adhesive, and then removing the support. The polyamide is preferably an N-alkoxymethyl polyamide, a polyamide derived from triglycol diamine, or a copolymer of caprolactam and hexamethylene diammonium adipate and sebacate; the polyamide may contain a surfactant (e.g. polyethyleneoxy nonyl phenol). The laminating member may be prepared by coating the polyamide on a support of polypropylene with or without a SiO 2 slip agent, polyethylene terephthalate, polyethylene or paper coated with polyethylene, polypropylene or polymethyl methacrylate, and then overcoating the polyamide layer with a polyvinyl acetate or polyester adhesive layer.</p> |
