The amplifier has an amplifier crystal (11) of straight cylinder shape and including an input side (110) and a circular shaped output side (111). A cylindrical surface (112) connects the two sides, where an amplified laser beam circulates between the two sides. A circulating unit (14) circulates a cooling liquid (12) in a mechanical enclosure (13) surrounding the crystal. An independent claim is also included for a laser beam amplifying device.
