Controlled rectifiers are each provided with two finned heat sinks serving as electrode connections and are slid one above the other into the side of a space between two parallel walls 7, 8 so that each heat sink defines a cooling duct with its adjacent wall. Insulating bars 17, 27, 37 separate the rectifiers vertically and prevent cooling air from entering the spaces between the two heat sinks of each rectifier where it would set up unwanted vibration in the control leads. The bars are attached to the walls by members 18, 19, &c. which prevent air from leaking from the duct between vertically adjacent rectifiers, the corresponding heat sinks of which form continuous ducts. An embodiment is described in which rectifiers are slid into the space between the walls one from each side (at each level). A cylindrical pillar (50) runs parallel to the ducts and laterally seals the air spaces between the heat sinks of each rectifier from the vertical ducts formed between laterally adjacent rectifiers. The assembly has a third wall parallel to the other two to define a further space into which rectifiers are fitted. |
