The clutch or braking device (1) has a disc shaped body (2,3,4) which produces the frictional force when it is in contact with the frictional element (5) whereby the disc shaped body consists of a metallic porous material e.g. metallic sponge which possesses anisotropic mechanical properties. An independent claim is also included for the method for the production of the material.
