Base shielding arrangement for furniture systems, especially in fitted kitchens, based on shielding plates connected by swivellable film hinge

A base shield arrangement for a furniture system is formed from shielding plates (SP's) where: (a) one first and second SP (22a, 22b) have their narrow sides adjoining and connected to form a shield path between the fitted furniture and the floor; (b) the side connection between the SP's consists of a swivellable hinge; and (c) the hinge consists of film hinge fixed to the front surfaces of the SP's. In a base shielding arrangement for a furniture system with a visible front surface and an opposite back surface, formed from shielding plates (SP's), (a) in the mounted state at least one first and at least one second SP (22a, 22b) have their left or right narrow sides adjoining each other and connected together to form a shielding path between the fitted furniture and the floor, (b) the side connection between the first and second SP's consists of a swivellable hinge connection, such that the shielding path is flexibly adaptable to the front contour of the furniture system and (c) the hinge connection consists of film hinge fixed to the visible front surfaces of the first and second SP's, such that the shielding path is formed as an at least partly connected unit. Independent claims are included for: (1) a furniture system including the base shielding arrangement; and (2) the production of a base shielding arrangement, by filling liquid plastics material into grooves in the front surface of a unitary SP; hardening the plastics material to form a film hinge; cutting a bevel in the back surface behind the film hinge up to the hinge so that the unitary SP is converted into the first and second SP's swivellably connected by the film hinge; and optionally forming the continuous shielding path with further SP's.
