A method for the continuous processing of granulated poly-propylene, polyamide or polyester by drying granules obtained by underwater granulation, heating to at least 100[deg]C and then cooling, in which the heated granules are continuously mixed, cooled and washed with cooling water and then immediately subjected to continuous centrifugal drying. An independent claim is also included for apparatus for conducting this method comprising an underwater granulator (2), a granulate dryer (2), a device (7) for the thermal treatment of the granules at a temperature of at least 100[deg]C and a cooler (15), in which the cooler (15) comprises a device for mixing the granules with cooling water and is followed by a centrifugal dryer (20) which is next to the cooler (15).
