PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a waterproof structure of an ignition device for an internal combustion engine preventing the infiltration of water into a plughole from the outside and easily evaporating water to ensure an air vent passage at an early stage even if water infiltrates into the air vent passage. SOLUTION: The ignition device is provided with an ignition coil for supplying high voltage to an ignition plug, and a rain cover part for shutting off the inside of the plughole from the outside. An air communicating groove allowing the inside of the plughole to communicate with the outside of the plug hole is formed at the rain cover part. The air communicating groove is composed of a plurality of approximately concentric circumferential grooves, and an auxiliary groove for allowing the circumferential grooves to communicate with one another.
