PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for inexpensively and industrially practicably producing a cyano group-containing polycyclic (meth)acrylate important as a material monomer for industrial use such as optical materials, and to provide the cyano group-containing polycyclic (meth)acrylate less in the content of (meth)acrylic anhydride. SOLUTION: The cyano group-containing polycyclic (meth)acrylate represented by general formula (2) is produced by adding (meth)acrylic acid to a cyano group-containing polycyclic olefin represented by general formula (1) in the presence of an acid catalyst. In this case, addition reaction is performed while the molar ratio of the content of (meth)acrylic acid to that of the cyano group having the polycyclic olefin in a reaction system is kept to be≥3.5. In formulas (1) and (2), R<SB>1</SB>is H or methyl; R<SB>2</SB>and R<SB>3</SB>are each H or cyano, provided that at least one of R<SB>2</SB>and R<SB>3</SB>is cyano; and n is an integer of 0 to 2.
